Atlas respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information when you use our portfolio tracking service.

Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

  • Email address (for authentication and account recovery)
  • Password (encrypted and never stored in plain text)

Portfolio Data

When you use the Service, we store:

  • Investment categories you create
  • Assets and holdings you enter
  • Portfolio snapshots (historical data points)
  • Configuration preferences (currency, display settings)

Technical Information

We automatically collect:

  • Browser type and version
  • Device type and operating system
  • IP address (for security purposes)
  • Access times and pages viewed

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide and maintain the Service
  • Authenticate your identity and secure your account
  • Store and sync your portfolio data across devices
  • Send important service-related notifications (account recovery, security alerts)
  • Improve and optimize the Service
  • Detect and prevent fraud or abuse

We do NOT:

  • Sell your data to third parties
  • Use your portfolio data for advertising
  • Share your financial information with anyone
  • Send marketing emails (unless you opt in)

Data Storage

Your data is stored securely using Supabase, a secure and compliant cloud database provider. Supabase implements industry-standard security measures including encryption at rest and in transit. Data is stored in secure data centers with redundant backups.

Third-Party Services

Supabase (Database & Authentication)

We use Supabase to store your account and portfolio data. Supabase has its own privacy policy available at supabase.com/privacy.

Market Data Providers

We fetch market prices from third-party providers. Only the symbols you request are sent.

Local Storage

We use browser localStorage to store:

  • User preferences (disclaimer acknowledgment, UI settings)
  • Temporary session data

When you sign in, portfolio data is not stored in localStorage for security reasons—it's only stored in Supabase.

Data Security

We implement security measures to protect your data:

  • HTTPS encryption for all data transmission
  • Encrypted password storage (bcrypt hashing)
  • Row-Level Security (RLS) in Supabase ensuring users can only access their own data
  • Secure authentication tokens
  • Regular security updates

However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access: View all data we have about you
  • Modify: Update or correct your data at any time through the app
  • Delete: Permanently delete your account and all associated data using the "Clear Data" feature
  • Export: Download your data (feature coming soon)

Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your data or account, it is permanently removed from our systems. Backups are retained for up to 30 days for disaster recovery purposes only.

Children's Privacy

The Service is not intended for users under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe we have collected information from a child, please contact us immediately.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
